Turkey Residence Permits 

A Turkish Residence Permit allows you to stay in Turkey for more than three months in a half-year period for objectives such as residence,job,or study.

A residency permit allows you to live in Turkey, study, marry, change your driver's license to Turkish, obtain a tax number, establish a bank account, buy property, make investments, and much more.

If you are moving to Turkey for the sole purpose of working, you will only require a work permit, which also functions as a residency permit.

Who Gets A Residence Permit In Turkey?

Anyone moving to Turkey with the goal of staying for more than three months must get a Turkey Residence Permit after arrival.

Your stay in Turkey will be considered illegal if you do not have a residency permit.

If any of the following apply to you, you will be excluded from this requirement:

You have a "registration certificate" for applying for international protection.

You are not required to get a residence permit because of reciprocal or multilateral agreements to which the Republic of Turkey is also a party.

You are a diplomatic or consular officer based in Turkey.

You work in Turkey for foreign companies' representative offices.

One of the following marks appears on your identity card:"international protection application," "international protection status," or "statelessness."

You have a current work permit.

Turkey Residence Permits Types

Depending on your visa type,the purpose of your application,and the length of time you want to stay in Turkey,you can apply for one of the following residence permits:

Short-Term Residence Permit

Among all residency permits, the Turkish short-term resident permit is the most highly after.

This residency permit can be obtained for any of the following purposes:

for scientific study.
to make commercial or business relationships.
to take part in a program of in-service training.
in the context of student exchange programs, for educational or similar goals.
for the purpose of tourism.
to obtain medical care if you do not have one of the diseases considered a danger to public health.
to take Turkish language classes.
You are a Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus citizen.
 

Family Residence Permit

A family residency permit may be offered to a Turkish national's foreign spouse, minor children, and dependent foreign kid.

In order for people requesting for a residence visa to be approved, the sponsor must have enough income to support them.

Student Residence Permit

If you are in Turkey for the purpose of entering primary or secondary education, you can apply for a student residency permit.

You will not need this if you already have a family residence permit.

You will also be able to apply for this residency if you want to study in Turkey at the associate degree,bachelor's degree,master's degree, doctorate,speciality training in medical (TUS),and specialty training in dentistry (DUS) levels.

Long-Term Residence Permit

If you have lived in Turkey for at least eight years continuously under a residence permission issued by the Turkish authorities, you can apply for a Turkish long-term permit with unlimited duration.

You are not eligible to apply if you have lived in Turkey for the specified period as a refugee,conditional refugee,or secondary protection status holder,humanitarian residence visa holder,or temporary protection holder.

Humanitarian Residence Permit

If you are in Turkey without a valid visa or residence permit, but no deportation decision has been made against you,you are awaiting deportation,or you are unable to return to your country of residence due to an emergency,you may apply for this residence permit.

Residence Permit For Victims Of Human Trafficking

You can apply for this residency visa if you are a victim of human trafficking and are in Turkey.

How to Apply for a Turkey Residence Permit

A number of processes must be followed in order to apply for a Turkish Residence Permit.

The first thing you should be aware of is that you must apply for a residence permit within one month of arriving in Turkey.

Choose the sort of residency permit you wish to apply for, and then fill out the online application at the Turkish Ministry of Interior's website.

You must include your name and surname, birth date, parents' names, nationality, and contact information.

Then go to the "Central Appointment System" website and schedule an appointment at the nearest Directorate General of Migration Management office.

In fact, you will be required to fill out a form with your personal information and address in Turkey.

The address of the nearest DGMM office,a list of the needed papers,available days and times for the appointment,and the application and card price that you must pay will then be shown to you.

Required Documents for a Turkey Residence Permit

On the day of your appointment, you must submit several papers to the local Directorate General of Migration Management office. The following documents are necessary for a Turkish resident permit:

Form for requesting a residence permit.

Four biometric images.

Real passport.

A notarized copy of the passport or travel document is required.

Evidence of substantial and long-term financial resources for the duration of the stay.You must show that you have at least €500 in your bank for each month you spend in Turkey, or that you will receive that amount on a monthly basis.

Proof of Health Insurance.

Expiration of a Resident Permit

The duration of a Residence Permit in Turkey is determined by the type of permit you possess, which is as follows:

Short-term resident permits are valid for a maximum of two years.

Long-term resident permits have indefinite validity.

The duration of a Student Residence Permit is determined by the length of study. If your schooling duration is less than a year, your residence permit cannot last longer than the education period.

The family residency permit can be awarded for a maximum of three years at a time.

The permit for humanitarian residency is issued and can be renewed for up to one year.

The residency permit for victims of human trafficking is valid for thirty days.
